E7250 docking bay?

I would like to buy a docking bay for this netbook, but have no idea where to verify what is compatible.  Amazon and Ebay both have units available but I don't want to buy on unless I am sure it will work.  Help?

@WendyJM  The only docking stations compatible with the Latitude E Series systems are Dell's E-Port and E-Port Plus docking stations.  The E-Port allows one VGA display plus one DVI or DisplayPort display, and the E-Port Plus allows two displays connected via any combination of DVI, DisplayPort, or VGA.  Also be aware that the first-generation E-Port and E-Port Plus docks only have USB 2.0 ports, whereas the second generation versions of those models have two USB 3.0 ports on the back.  The way to tell them apart is that the rear USB ports are blue on the USB 3.0 docks (but the USB ports on the left edge are always USB 2.0).  The E-Port docks are meant to be used with a 130W power adapter unless your system requires more than that, which yours doesn't.  But some docking stations sold via third parties only include the docking unit rather than the AC adapter, so if you buy one like that, you'll also need a Dell 130W power source with the standard 7.4 mm full size barrel connector (not the 4.5 mm slim tip connector).

Thank you for the reply.  The power supply is not an issue. as I have several spares, including the much beefier one used for the E6400 series.  What is the model number of the docking bay, if you please?

@WendyJM  I don't have a part number on hand, and I suspect you'll find there have been multiple part numbers over the years to account for docks that come with higher wattage adapters if they'll be paired with high powered systems (Precision workstations) and whether they come with a spacer meant for newer E Series models like yours.  That was developed because Dell shifted the docking connector on the system out to the edge of the chassis, whereas most E Series models have it closer to the center.  That caused the system not to back up to the dock when connected to the underside connector, so Dell created a spacer to cover that gap.  It can make it easier to align the system over the docking connector on the dock, but it's not a functional part.

But you can just literally search "Dell E-Port" or "Dell E-Port Plus" and you'll find them.  Then just look for mention of USB 3.0 if that's important to you.

@WendyJM  What you found should be fine, and $25 is a great deal even if it doesn't come with a power adapter.

@WendyJM  You’re welcome, but normally you would mark the post(s) that contained useful information as the solution(s), not a post of your own that just says thank you.
