Help: Win10 install error - Windows Cannot be Installed to This Disk. The Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition Style
I bought a refurb Latitude 7280 with Win10 Pro installed. BIOS was set to UEFI mode I think.
I wanted to do a clean install of Windows from a USB.
- I rebooted into the USB into setup mode, and deleted all the partitions, including MBR, recovery and primary. At this point I was unable to click "next" after creating a new partition.
- It said Windows could not be installed on this partition "Windows Cannot be Installed to This Disk. The Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition Style".
- I got boot errors, so changed the BIOS from UEFI to Legacy.
- That allowed me to boot into the setup USB and I installed Win10.
- I changed the BIOS back to UEFI but got ''PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable'' and ''PXE-M0F: Existing intel boot agent''.
- So I changed the BIOS back to Legacy from UEFI and the computer booted.
- I read that I needed to manually put the disk into GPT mode using and CMD prompt and MBR2GPT.EXE which I did.
- I then changed the BIOS back to UEFI and the computer booted.
- I checked Disk Management properties of the HDD and the partition style is "GUID Partition Table (GPT)"
Now, after this messing around I want to do a proper clean install in the right UEFI mode from the outset (and know how to do this in the future.
So I booted from the USB, got to the install menu but again get the error: "Windows Cannot be Installed to This Disk. The Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition Style"
Am I getting this error because I need to ensure the USB is booted in UEFI mode then do the installation - if I do that, will Windows install properly in UEFI mode?
How do I boot a USB in UEFI mode - what do I need to select from the BIOS?
This link below I found refers to the error "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table" so wasn't sure how relevant these steps would be in solving my issue.

I would appreciate any help or advice please. I hope I have not done any irreversible damage.
Thanks

"There is no USB storage under UEFI boot."
did you boot up with the usb stick already inserted?

I pressed F12 to enter one time boot menu.
There is no USB storage under UEFI boot.
There is on option to Change Boot mode settings - I can switch to UEFI Boot Mode, Secure Boot ON.
Will this allow USB storage to boot in UEFI mode, or not?
