Latitude 5511 Unknown Base System Device
Hello,
After imaging a series of Dell Latitude 5511 laptops and updating drivers off the support page I'm left with one last unknown Base System Device. It's properties are;
Location: PCI bus 0, device 8, function 0
Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1911&SUBSYS_09C11028&REV_00\3&11583659&0&40 requires further installation.
Can anyone ID this device and let me know if there are drivers for W10 64-bit.
Thanks in Advance,
Joe

@SkibumJoe The results I'm seeing from Googling "VEN_8086&DEV_1911" suggest that it's related to a CPU component, which means the driver is probably packaged into one of the many Intel packages in the Chipset category of the Downloads section of support.dell.com for that system. You might find it easier to at least temporarily install Dell Update instead, which is essentially Windows Update for Dell drivers and firmware. It'll remove the hunting and guesswork here. And if you keep it, you'll know when there are such updates available. Or you can uninstall it after using it once to fill in the gaps if you prefer.

It turned out to be the ATA driver. Once updated after the initial OS image was installed that resolved it.
Thanks

Hello!
I have a Dell Inspiron 14 5491 bought exactly a year ago and, due to the need for more storage capacity, when I migrated to Windows 11, I did a clean installation of the operating system on a new 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus SSD (M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3.0x4 NVMe).
I did not have any difficulties with installing Windows 11, but when trying to install the SSD management utility (Samsung Magician SSD Software), it did not recognize the device. I needed to make a change from RAID mode to AHCI (System Configuration in BIOS), even though the only storage device installed is the SSD M.2 NVMe.
After making the BIOS change, the computer did not recognize the SSD and I had to go back to the original configuration. I performed a "Minimal Safe Reboot" and then another normal reboot and it was able to install the Samsung Magician utility.
However, I noticed the unrecognized device sign (exclamation point in yellow triangle) in the device manager.
Detailing:
• Device Type: Other Devices
• Manufacturer: Unknown
• Location: PCI bus 0, device 8, function 0
• Device Status
– Drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
– There are no compatible drivers for this device.
– To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
– Information:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1911&SUBSYS_095D1028&REV_00\3&11583659&0&40 requires additional installation.
I have already updated the driver in Windows, updated the drivers with Dell SupportAssist and Intel Driver & Support Assistant, but to no avail.
I cannot solve this!
I ask for help and thanks in advance.
Rupert
