Latitude 7214

Manual shows that this computer supports M.2 NVMe and M.2 SATA SSD

But Spares Team only have carrier for M.2 SATA SSD (Part# 693VV)
What is the part number for the M.2 NVMe SSD carrier? Or are they the same for both?

Hello,

M.2 SATA SSD carrier is the only part which would also fit the M.2 NVMe drive. Based on the manual the system does support M.2 SATA card as well as M.2 NVMe. While you can fit the NVMe on the carrier and plug it on the slot available to the right, the M.2 SSD card can be used on the WLAN or WWAN slot which ever is free.

funny i just signed in to ask this exact same question.  earlier i asked dell parts says they can't find the nvme caddy and i should ask technical support.  i also found these old threads that suggest it might be possible to convert an m.2 caddy to nvme:

when i google those part descriptions i come up with the following.  it would be nice to hear if anyone has done this nvme conversion.  i will ask tech support and parts chat support as well.

2FFR0 ?= "Mosaic/Midas,M2P3,M2P4 & Tan g,SATA/PCIE,BR-ALL"
1X2MT ?= "Mosaic/Midas,M2P3,M2P4 & Tan g,SATA/PCIE,PARK CITY"
DJ69P ?= "NVME,Thermal,BEAVER CREEK"
?= "Modem or Modem Daughter Card Screw 4 $1.99 $7.96"

interesting, so you are saying that the ssd carrier part number 693VV would support both a sata ssd with M+B key and an nvme with M key?  that is good advice to try the WWAN slot, but i think sometimes those slots are only one lane PCIe whereas a regular SSD slot would have four lanes PCIe?

Yes, that is correct. In response to the WWAN slot, you would have to use a M.2 mini SATA card with heigh 3.8 mm so that it fits the slot fine.

sorry that is not correct.  the SSD drive caddy part number 693VV has a B key slot.  It will allow installation of a SATA B+M key drive.  It will not support an NVMe M key drive.  See the picture below.

With the M.2 mini SATA card with heigh 3.8 mm in the wwan slot, can it be made bootable to windows for the 7204/7214?
