Latitude 7420 does not pick up External Audio Source

Question

The Issue: When booting the laptop with the lid closed and connected to either a Dell WD19 or Anker 13-in-1 Power Dock, Windows 10 does not show my monitors external audio options. If I boot the laptop with the lid open and connected to these docks, the monitor external audio options appear as standard in Windows 10. When connecting my older Dell Precision or MacBook Pro M1 to these docks, the audio works as expected. All laptops display their image as a second display without issue. What I've Tried: The following has been tried: BIOS updated to the latest version direct from Dell site. Laptop has been rebuilt three times. All drivers up to date via Windows Update / Dell Command All drivers up to date using the Dell Website and manual downloads BIOS settings confirmed as correct All Audio / Intel devices deleted and software uninstalled then re-installed. At this point, I've run out of ideas to try.  It's so strange that it all works when the lid is open and then powered on.  Obviously, I could open the lid and power on each morning but it's now a question I'm commited to resolving!

It turns out that on this model, if you want the audio to come from external monitors when the laptop is closed then you have to disable the lid switch in the BIOS.

Power On, Press F2, Power, 'Enabled Lid Switch' Off

I have the same issue on my new company Latitude 7420, but lid open or not doesn't change too much.

With the lid closed only "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" is recognized.

With the lid open also the USB-connected microphones.

Audio output from my 2 Dell monitors connected with DP are not recognized (anymore). Because yesterday when I set up and tested the system they where recognized and working properly.
