Latitude 7490, Headset mic doesn’t work
I have the same problem and still doesn't recognize the headset being plugged in. I have a Dell Latitude 7490 and samsung earbuds. They worked on my last Dell and a Latitude 7480, but not on this one. I can hear the sound, but the mic doesn't work.

You may want to check my reply in another similar post. It is using the Dell Audio (=Realtek HD Audio Manager) application to setup the microphone jack of your laptop correctly.
