Latitude 7490 USB-C DisplayPort question

Hi. I have a Latitude 7490 (Intel i5 - 8th Gen) with a USB-C DisplayPort on the left side (No Thunderbolt 3). Can I use the USB-C DisplayPort to connect an external monitor ?, I'm trying to by using a USB-C to USB-C cable provided with the monitor, but it is not working. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

What type of monitor (conventional with its own power supply, or portable that relies on the system to power the monitor)?  And do you have the required displaylink driver loaded for whatever OS the system is running?

Yes, that port is video-enabled, either as displayport over USB-C if it's a standard USB-C port or over Thunderbolt if the system has that option.

Thanks, although, the issue is it is not working, and I'm looking for guidance on how to make it work.
