Latitude E6440 CPU upgrade, #3

Late to the party as usual, but I'm also in the same boat. Have an E6440 i5 that's slow and struggling and my 8GB RAM is not the problem. (I'm not a gamer, photo editor, etc ) So I put an i7-4712MQ in my eBay cart, thinking that it would be the best compatible chip with the same TDP (37W). But I must have looked at some other chips, because I got a notification that I thought wrongly was an offer from the seller for the 4712MQ at a discount, so I ordered. But then I found out I accidentally bought a 4810MQ with a 47W TDP. I was mad, but I found evidence that people had successfully upgraded to 4910MQ (also 47W TDP). So then it seemed possibly dumb to order the less powerful chip for more money and pay for return shipping of the 4810MQ. If I was going to make a mistake, it would have been better to get the 4910MQ, but the 4810MQ seems similar enough. U2CAMEB4ME suggested in the old thread that the 4910MQ should/could work but run a little hot. I think that means he'd say the same about the 4810. So I'm here to see if he or anyone else has more recent experience with such an upgrade and if any mods, including software throttling (which I know nothing about), would be necessary or helpful. I've got a 90W charger and a 130W charger for my E-Port dock. Thought I'd have to upgrade, but apparently a 65W is sufficient for my laptop as is, so I'm thinking I won't have to upgrade my chargers after all. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

The CPUs should work -- but the 47 W CPUs may run slower than the 37W units, as they'll throttle if the heat generated becomes more than the system can dissipate.  Plenty of folks have found this out when they've purchased new systems with i9 CPUs that actually run slower than their (much less expensive) i7 counterparts.
