Latitude E6540 backlit keyboard

I have a Latitude E6540.  I wish to add a  backlit keyboard.  I have seen backlit keyboards for my model and am considering buying one.  However I have some questions before I do so.
my OS is Win 10 pro version 1909. The BIOS is A27. When I check the BIOS I do not see illumination in the BIOS.
I was told by Dell personnel that a backlit keyboard will work on my E6540.
So my questions are 1: Is there a chipset driver for this function and if so what do I look for and where is the download?
2: Does the computer have to have the backlit keyboard from original purchase or can it be added?
I appreciate any information you can provide.  I have a good knowledge of desktop systems and have been building Windows desktop systems for about 10 years.  However I am a newbie with laptops.
this is my first post to this forum so if there is a standard protocol please advise.

Hi don't know if this helps. I have a Lattitude E5250.running WIN 10 Home. I have upgraded to a UK backlit keyboard. I checked the bios before swapping it didn't show on mine until I installed the keyboard. It worked ok but no software to control the backlight. Dell support were useless. I finally found software that works perfect "The Dell Feature Enhancement Pack" It installs quite a few Dell features into the control panel including "Dell Keyboard Backlight Settings. All works perfect now Derek

Thanks Derek M.
I appreciate your information.  Where can I find the “Dell Features Enhancement Pack” download? Is it available from Dell?
