Dell warns that you should not use Support Assist to download and install bios updates. You must go directly to your model's download page and download it yourself. Follow the directions for installing the new bios. Make sure your battery is charged and the adapter is plugged into a wall outlet.
I downloaded the bios software directly from the Dell support page, I installed it manually. After installation and reboot, I saw that the bios software was not up to date. As a result, the method was not successful.

Have you tried updating the BIOS from the BIOS boot menu as described on this support page?

Unfortunately I didn't succeed with preloading either.

I have had the same issue on serveral Latitudes and Precisions.
The solution for me has been to download and install current bios version on PC
After install installing the current bios version again i have been able to update to the new version every time..
