Possibly. I have read moderator's posts that say no but ran across this web page. It may help but cross your fingers.

Could you please download the Dell power Manager from here https://dell.to/2WOPZe9 and go to thermals and set it to cool/quiet mode, let us know if that helps you get over the problem.

Ya, I doubt there is any way to get the beep to go away or even be a little quitter. I find it obnoxious and even a little rude that Dell or Windows, or whoever did the programming on this, would make a system check that could cause people to be this irritated. It's unnecessary. I'm sure many people agree and perhaps Dell has a good answer for why this is the case. I'm also not even sure if the noise comes from speakers or some other electronic device. I wish they would do something about it.

would suggest you to remove the battery & disconnect the AC Adapter from the system and hold the power button down for 20 seconds, to discharge “Static Flea Power”, after that connect AC Adaptor and battery and restart your machine. I would suggest you to run Dell Diagnostics on the system to check for hardware failure, to run dell diagnostics, Turn on the system, press at the initial Dell logo screen, and select Diagnostics from the boot menu.

Also, I would like to know the system model and in case your system is under warranty please provide me Service tag of the Express code of the system in a private message. You can check the warranty status also

That sounds like an error beep if it cannot complete the tests. Post your model computer, Operating System and explain the problems you were having and someone here in this user to user forum will try to help.

Start a new post instead of adding to this old one.

Wanna hear a funny story? I used to live with a roommate who (unlike me) studies and works in tech. I would travel a lot between my home and my student flat at the time and randomly mentioned it would be nice to have 2 chargers for my laptop so that I don't need to carry one with me every time. He managed to sneak one from his work for me. My Dell inspiron normally uses a 130W powered charger and this one is 90W so not good for playing games, but I didn't need that anyway.

Fast forward a few years - not sure if this is caused by a software update or something else but whenever I boot the laptop up while it's being charged with this lower power charger, the diagnostics starts automatically unless you manually cancel it within a few seconds. Therefore when I first booted the laptop up and went to grab a coffee, the thing started making this insanely loud beeps and it completely freaked me out. I was very careful to avoid this problem since then.

Fast forward a few months, I have my girlfriend over at home. We hadn't seen each other in a while so we fell asleep quite late and tired. Guess what this decides to do at 3 am? Automatically install some windows updates. And when it restarts, what does it do? Boots the diagnostics in the middle of the night with these loud beeps. It took me good 10 seconds to realize what is going on, I ran over to the table (stubbed my toe in the process) with only one thing one my mind - make it stop! When I finally pressed some buttons and it was over, we were both fully awake and needless to say didn't get much sleep after that. Thankfully my gf was cool but this was just an all around horrible experience. I never leave my laptop connected to this 90W charger overnight since then.

If anybody has problems waking up in the morning, I suggest you try this method. It will work 100 % of the time.

Yep, same problem on my Inspiron 15 5000 series.  This randomly occurs.  DELL needs to get this resolved.

MyHeroMoritz says it all.  As an engineer I find it ridiculous that the sound during the diagnostic check is so loud.  There is no excuse, they need to fix this.

Hello,

What's new since ? Nothing.

This can cause irreversible ear harm when near located. This sound is crazy.
It's a real health problem. When you have already had an injured ear, the last thing is this loud sound that is emitted by the computer.
Please DELL moderator, report this problem to the engeeneering dept to lower the volume to 1/4 when BIOS error or even when advanced diagnostics are performed.

Please solve this.

Actually I dont have to leave this message since I am not going to buy any DELL again due to this stupid design. I spent $3500 on the alienware and airplane crew asked me to not use it because the alarm was so loud even bothered others on a noisy airplane. When users boot a laptop, they are most likely sitting in front of it. What's the point to design a nuclear attack level alarm that cannot even be disabled?

So this has been a problem for SIX FREAKING YEARS and nobody at Dell has seen this post? Why are we here? I have the same problem with some Wyze thin clients. Unfortunately I have to retrieve a self-test result so that our defective on-board SSD can be "refurbished". The deafening noise can be muted with a button, but it's quite disconcerting.
