Nvme gen compatability

Hey

What gen nvme is the latitude 3510 compatible with? Read some dell documentation that says gen 3 and some sights like Crucial state gen 4.

Dell's specifications state that it supports PCIe NVMe 3x4. Note that Crucial does not say that the laptop supports Gen 4, only that you can use either Gen 3 or Gen 4 drives in it. However, a Gen 4 drive will run at Gen 3 speeds.

Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard. (Repeatedly touching a metal case part is not sufficient mitigation with modern components.)

Got a Gen 3 NVME, all fitted, bios shows drive details under storage, but bios doesn't recognise it as a bootable drive, dell beeps once on start up. Tried wiping drive via bios security options. Any ideas on how to make it bootable?

Same answer as your other thread -- have you installed an OS onto the drive?
