Please help
My Dell latitude d630 is having a bit of issues. It started with a black screen on startup. The laptop actually boots cause it plays the sound indicating that it has loaded the desktop. I tried the simple procedure for solving a black screen of death problem. It works sometimes. It started the problem again and this time I unmounted the pc and reseated the RAM. Now I powered it on, it just shows a white screen, doesn't boot and then goes off after some seconds... Please I seriously need help.

Sounds like the LCD panel has gone bad.
That model it is not hard to replace the LCD panel.
You can find replacements on eBay for under $30.

That model laptop is 12 years old. The best solution is to remove the hard drive, recycle the laptop and buy a new one. Laptops do not normally last 12 years. You took good care of it!

Do you see the DELL splash when powered on???
Have you tried to attach an external display???

The Dell splash screen doesn't come up. The backlight comes on but the screen is black. No picture is displayed but it plays a sound indicating that the desktop menu has loaded. It works on an external monitor .
