Removing fan: Latitude E7450
Hello,
first time changing a broken fan. I cannot detach it, though. There seems to be an additional cover which I haven't seen on any of the disassembly videos on Youtube. I don't know how to detach that cover. Or am I supposed to somehow draw the fan out from underneath the cover? I tried, but it seems stuck.
Thanks a lot!

The actual fan is a part of an integrated unit which contains a flat looking metal tube. This runs to and covers the CPU. To replace the fan, the entire unit must be unplugged and unscrewed from the mother board. There is probably some heatsink grease or a heatsink pad attached to the underside of the cooling tube where it attaches to the CPU. Lift that off gently and the fan should come free. If you don't have a replacement, check the Parts People ; just enter your Service Tag number in the search field there and it should come up with your computer's information. Then you can order the correct fan unit for your laptop.

@Bassman12350 Thanks for confirming. I have that same stupid metal cover which is proving to be a nightmare to remove. Apparently no other e7450's ever sold have them besides me and the OP :)
