Repairing disk error not completing

My Dell latitude 3330 had a small fall on the couch about 6 inches this morning and ever since when I try to start up I get a black load screen saying "Repairing disk errors, this may take over an hour" so I left it the first for 4 hours before rebooting because nothing had changed at all. The second time was left for 10 hours and nothing. Please can someone save me from
This and try to get me to understand of what to do please please

Hi jessicajakers,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not working as expected.

Unfortunately, disk drives are fairly delicate and do not tolerate drops or falls.  It would appear that your hard drive has either become damaged or a cable may have become disconnected.  You can check to be sure that the connections are all secure on the inside of the computer first, and if that doesn't resolve it, the hard drive may need to be replaced.

Please run a diagnostics test by pressing F12 at startup and make a note of any error messages.

Here are some articles from the Dell knowledge base you may find helpful.

Chances are the surface of the platter(s) is (are) damaged.  Run an extended diagnostic on the drive  -F12 at powerup.  If you receive an error such as 2000-0142, etc. -- replace the drive with a new one.
