Replacement MB for Latitude E6430
I have an E6430 laptop that has a bad montherboard. I want to replace the MB and have found many used boards available on Ebay. However, I want to make sure that whatever MB I purchase will be compatible with my current laptop such that I simply plug in all other items to the replacement MB and it all works. How can I make sure that I get the right one? Is there a MB serial number that tells me all the specifics of that board so i can compare for compatibility?

Welcome to the Dell Community @hsjnlssmith
Remove the Base Cover.
Then remove the Memory Sims.
On the lower slot you will find the Dell Part Number for that system board.
This is an E6430 that I pulled from my warehouse.
System board part number: 0F761C
Yours may be different:

Thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested and located my part number. Mine is 0465VM (mine has an i5 CPU). I found a replacement board on Ebay with an i7 CPU included. it is actually the same part number as yours (0F761C). Would I be able to install this board (with i7 CPU) into my laptop and reinstall all other peripheries, video, RAM, etc.. and get the unit to work, or are there compatibility issues between the two motherboards?

Ram will be OK.
You will have a problem with the heatsink???
The 0465VM has Discrete Nvidia Graphics.

You would be losing the Nvidia Graphics and would need a new heatsink???
Everything else should lineup correctly but I would have to tear down 2 laptops to make sure.
