To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

I just went through this TPS issue on my 5580; After not finding a single post that fixed it, I came up with one- Here goes:

First, download the latest BIOS for your laptop then right-click it- a fly out menu will appear, left-click Run As Administrator (RAA). Let it load and restart to update (or overwrite the same existing version if it was previously loaded); When it's completely done with the flashing process and reboots to the TPM error message, press & release the power button- the laptop should power off within 10 seconds. If it doesn't power off, press and hold the power button until the laptop shuts off.

The next steps might be a little different for your particular model but here's what absolutely worked on my 5580 running Win11 with an M2 SSD:

1. Unplug the power pack from the laptop port.

2. Turn laptop over & loosen the 8 screws (the screws are captive on my model- each screw took about 5 complete turns to unscrew), then pry the bottom cover off, starting along the back of the laptop. NOTE: A guitar pick or used-up gift card works well as a pry tool to get the panel to seperate from the laptop;

3. Once the bottom cover is off, look for the BIOS battery and the main battery & unplug them both. NOTE: The BIOS battery has a flimsy small connector that needs to be carefully removed by using tweezers or 2 small flat blade screwdrivers to push the shoulders of the plastic connector at the same time to disengage it- pulling on the wires is risky because they can and will snap out of the connector; Also, maintain control of the tools so you don't slip and damage the motherboard; The main battery plug has a built-in finger strap disconnect- pull it straight up off the connector.

4. With the power pack disconnected and both of the batteries unplugged, press & hold the power button down FOR A FULL 30 SECONDS. This will wipe out the bad TPM configuration, allowing proper reprogramming.

5. Stand the laptop on its' side and plug in the AC adapter to the laptop; The laptop should power on as soon as you connect the power pack- wait a solid 3 to 5 minutes for it to cycle through an initialization process; When the initialization is complete, it will boot up to a Setup Error: Time & Date Not Set; Press & release the power button- the laptop should shut off in a few seconds.

6. Leave the power pack connected: Close the screen & lay the laptop down so you can carefully reconnect the BIOS & main batteries.

7. Once the batteries are reconnected, put the bottom cover back on. NOTE: When the cover is ready to be screwed back down, push firmly along the front edge of the cover- it should click a couple of times as the locater nibs engage, then tighten the screws.

8. Flip the laptop right-side up, open it & turn it on; It will boot to the Time & Date error- Press the F2 (2nd key in from the Esc key) to enter BIOS setup.

9. Click the Restore Settings button on the bottom-right side; the laptop will restart.

10. Once it comes back up, it may have the Time & Date error again; if so, press the F2 key to enter BIOS and set the clock. Then click Exit and Save if it asks if you want to save.

11. Done.
