USB woes

Latitude 5440

Latitude 5440

It seems that Dell has gimicked the USB 3.2 on my laptop.

The Device Manager shows USB 3.2 and USB 3.1 extensible controller

but the USB 3.0 root hub throttles the USB 3.2 and USB 3.1 performance

USB 4.0 is also impacted as the throttling affects this as well.

This means performance is far below the chipset and needs correction

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

Last weekend a UEFI update helped with USB disks being noticed immediately instead of waiting 10-30 minutes before it is available

I have about 2 years of plus warranty left on my machine as new it was bought on top of the machine cost and includes all level of problems

Maybe in 2 years if this machine is still in use or I get a new one depends on my needs

This machine has 5G support so its handy in the field

I noticed as well that USB hard disks are running far better. So evidently this was a known issue when I griped.
