WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE ERROR AFTER PLUGGING USB DEVICE

Hello,

I have already tried EVERYTHING but I cannot get USB to run on my Dell Latitude 7480.

I am getting following issue:

I can use my notebook without any plugged in usb devices. BUT when I connect any usb device, for example my smartphone, I am getting a blue screen with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Sometimes I am getting freeze and sometimes a blue screen. Sometimes it happens immediately after plugging in an usb device, but more often it happend after couple of seconds (10 - 30 sec.). Until the crash comes I am able to use the device. Dumps are not created!

I had a Lenovo 440s for more than 5 years and never got a blue screen or freezes or other errors, never switched it off it was often running 24/7. Now with dell I get bluescreens out of the box???

What I have already tried:

1) Re-installed windows (from USB stick) 10 with latest Dell drivers. -> issue persists

2) Re-installed windows with windows drivers. -> issue persists

3) Upgraded BIOS to 1.18.0. -> issue persists

4) Ran preboot diagnostics, result is ok.

5) Performed driver update and ran hardware check with dell support app. Everything works fine, the app tells but the USB issue persists.

6) Set BIOS settings to default, nothing changed.

It seems like Dell have MASSIVE issues with drivers, how can it be possible with such a big Manufacturer of computing solutions? Forums are simply overfilled with bluescreen issues. I am working in software development and we would go bankrupt if we would deliver software solutions like that.

Any help is very appreciated. Without USB the notebook is useless for me.

Best regards,

Viktor

I found these troubleshooting steps. Hope they help you: Method 1: Run the SFC. Follow the below steps: Open Command Prompt. Select “Run as Administrator”. Type “sfc /scannow” without quotes and hit Enter. Now check for the issue. Method 2: Run the DISM Tool. If the issue persists, I would have you run the DISM tool to check the system health and will try to restore the files. Click on 'Start'. Enter 'Command prompt' in the Search box. In the list of results, swipe down on or right-click Command Prompt, and then tap or click 'Run as administrator'. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth To close the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter. Note: The tool might take 15-20 minutes to finish running, so please do not cancel it.

Thanks for reply. I have tried steps you have described but it did not fix the issue. Maybe it is really a hardware issue, but I have re-installed windows from usb pen drive without any trouble, hence it might not be the case. I do not know what to do anymore, I think the solution will be to sell the device and switch to an other brand.
