@Hazel852 it looks like the K17A docking station you're talking about is more commonly known as the Dell WD15. If so, the official Compatibility list would only include systems that can support functions like being powered on from the dock's Power button and updating the dock firmware. If you don't care about that, then the compatibility list grows quite a bit, including to non-Dell systems. In order to use the WD15 as intended, a system would need to support charging itself over USB-C and video output over USB-C, sometimes called DisplayPort Alt Mode. Not all systems with USB-C port support those functions. In terms of the power requirement, the WD15 can provide up to 90W to Dell systems when the WD15 itself has a 130W power supply, up to 130W to Dell systems when the WD15 itself has a 180W power supply, and up to 60W to non-Dell systems regardless of which power supply the WD15 is using.
So for example, my wife's work-issued ThinkPad T480 works just fine with her Dell WD15 in her home office because the system supports being charged over USB-C, works just fine with a 60W power source, and supports video output -- and she finds it's quite convenient to switch between using that system and her personal XPS 13 9350 there.
