Any pro tips for installing Linux on 9370 (XPS 13)?
Hi all,
I just got my XPS 13 9370 (4k) that runs Windows 10 and I'm about to wipe it clean and install Linux.
Any pro tips from people who've done it before? I'm going with Ubuntu Ubuntu 18.04.1 desktop image and Xfce desktop manager.
Any extra software I should install to get the best experience?
Share your tips! Thank you.
Peter

Out of curiosity - why didn't you get the Linux version to begin with?
You should be ok with the 18.04 install. Dell seems to be good at getting the necessary drivers into the standard kernel.
I just recently activated the HWE stack on my 16.04 (pre-installed on my dev edition 9370). No problems - fixed wakeup after sleep issue that I had.
Make sure tlp is installed to get optimal battery life.
You can make sure the latest firmware is installed with fwupdmgr.

Hey there,
Thanks for your response. They didn't have one with Linux in stock and I couldn't wait to get it. So I got a Windows one.
Great tips. I think I'll go with 16.04 then because of HWE. I'll get tlp installed.

Just a quick update - installed Ubuntu 16.04.5 from default desktop iso (found on Ubuntu's site). Worked like a charm on first install. Everything was detected. Webcam works, audio works, wireless works, touch screen works. Feels good.
