Change Resolution on Linux

Hi, all.

I have a Dell 24" wide screen on a Dell Linux box. The resolution is very low and there are no other options to increase it.

How do I get higher resolution options to apear?

Have you tried Adminstraion -> Screen and Graphics Preferences What exactly does it tell you? You'll need to check that you're running the right graphics driver, and the Monitor details are known, they may be auto-detected or you have to select the type. Good place to look is on Ubuntu site for HOWTOs with screen shots.

In a terminal type sudo gedit /etc/usplash.conf this will show your screen resolution, just change the values to what res you want close the window and click save. This will now change your screen res. Note you may have to restart.
