display problem with mandrake 9.2 install
Hello,
First : Sorry for my English...
So : It's the first time that I want to install/use linux so I've downloaded Mandrake 9.2
I've an Inspiron 8600 with 1680x1050 display with GeForce FX 5650, I know there are some topics about this here but I'm just begening so it's hard to understund for me... Can someone explain me simply?
In fact mandrake doesn't 'see' my screen so at the end of the installation, during the summary, I can read 'display not configured' or some thing like this; I chose a dell laptop lcd & GeForce FX, but it doesn't work, and I have an unreadable screen with blue & white lines(I don't know how explain) after the test; or a black screen or no graphic interface.
Thanks

You probably will never be able to set it that high with Linux. If you install with something 'normal' like 800x600, then modify your xconfiguration once you have the system working.
You will probably need to install the drivers for the display module and load them before your video loads in your modules.conf. there are other(better) posts about this issue. good luck.
