Dual boot for XP & Ubuntu fail

I have just bought Vostro 1400 in malaysia. Trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 from cd but failed while trying to dual boot. can someone tell me how.

from the live CD, go into gparted (apps -> sys tools), go to the drive that ubuntu is on (probably already there though) right click on wherever your /boot drive is (either / or /boot) and select manage flags. when the window pops up, check the box that says "boot", hit ok, close and reboot. should work.

if not, go back to the live CD, and post your grub.config file (bootpartition/GRUB/GRUB.CONF)

OK Finally got it dual boot but another problem comes in no sound. my laptop using HD Audio Controller-ALSA

that happend to me once, and the videos played faster than usual too, but alls i had to do is restartt....this may not be the case tho...
