How to install Cloud launcher and Profile tool?
Hi,
I received my XPS 13 Developer Edition a few days ago (I was probably the first one to order it here in UK :-) ), and this is my first post in this forum - sorry if it is a dumb one, by the way...
The laptop is simply great, and it was awesome to have a top laptop working with Linux just out of the box, without having to spend days on workarounds for a video or WiFi card.
What I couldn't find were the extra development tools, the Cloud launcher and the Profile tool. As I understand they were supposed to be preinstalled by Dell, even if they are still in beta, right?
I tried to Google and searched this forum, but couldn't find an answer if they should have come installed or how to install them.
Do I have to download the source code and create the gems by myself, or is there an easier way?
I would really appreciate if someone could point a finger to the right path.
Thank you for all those involved in this project, and I hope to be able to contribute a little bit to it from now on.
Cheers,
Eduardo

Hi Eduardo,
At this point both projects are "under construction." For the cloud launcher right now you can use LXC and JuJu. We are also working on another version that will work with Chef. We should have a demo of this at OpenStack summit coming up. We will also soon be showing the work we've been doing recently with Profile tool.
When they get a bit further along we will put them in the Dell PPA but for now you can see some of the initial work at https://github.com/sputnik.
thanks!

Hi Barton,
My team responsibilities include, in addition to the development itself, to test our software whenever new versions of libraries or components are released, as well as to try to find new components that might make our jobs easier.
Right now we use virtual machines and/or LVM disc snapshots with Chef, but LXC is a great idea, might be lighter and faster, I will give it a try - thanks for the hint.
And thank you for the reply and for all the work to make Project Sputnik a reality.
