I'm not an expert at this, but I suspect the boot loader doesn't know where the O/S is. You may need to use a recovery cd (for Fedora Core 6) and use the grub command to enter the console. Some command like 'rootnoverify' needs to be used. You can google it to find out.

I'm curious if when your computer boots, does it go straight into Windows, or is there a windows boot loader, or grub boot loader first? I suspect that you don't have grub working. There shouldn't be a problem with booting from USB as I have a Knoppix version on my stick and it works fine.

Good luck. And post your solution as I'm sure others will run into a similar problem.

Thanks for your reply . For your understanding of my problem I have 2 disks : 1 with windows and another one where I want to install Linux . The installating procedure from fedora did not ask me for any boot loader ( grub or lilo ) I don't know which loader is used and if fedora is using the masterboot record of my disk . I have not yet a solution ! I have already used knoppix from a CD and it works fine . Have a nice day and thanks again.
