Installing RedHat on Dell Latitude D410
Hi Everyone
In our organization we have just bought 10 Dell Latitude D410 laptops with the hope that we'll run RedHat 9.0 on them, but unfortunately we can't manage to install them. The problem is that the installation of Linux does not even start. After putting Disc 1 of RedHat, I was expecting it to start installation but it does not. Could you please help me with this problem.
Thanks
Eric

Do you have the boot sequence set up so that the first thing that is tried is the CD-Rom. Usually most people set their systems up to boot in this order CD-ROM/Floppy(if you have one)/Hard Drive. If you don't go into the bios and change this.
If you have the above set up, then when you put the disk in, does the system just boot to windows or do you get an error message? If you get an error message please post it. Also is this a purchased copy of Red Hat or one you downloaded, if the latter put the disk in while windows is running and verify that they have a bunch of files on them and that they appear to be legit cds.
Post back with any updates.
Thanks

Hi Everyone
From the BIOS I forced my laptop to boot only from the CD/DVD ROM. At least, it manages to pick up DISK 1# (RedHat Linux 9.0). It gave me an ERROR when choosing installation method. Since I'm using CD, I chose local CDROM, Pressing OK I got the foolowing message: Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type. Would you like to manually select your driver or use a driver disk?
What could be the problem. How can I create this driver disk if possible.
Help please
