installing ubuntu studio

i just got Ubuntu studio downloaded and burned it onto a working CD. i know its working because it loads on my dell xps laptop. however, i cant get it to load on either of my desktops. one desktop is a dimension 9150 and the other is a 3100. the cdrom/hard drive configuration in the 3100 is as it came. the cdrom/hard drive configuration in the 9150 is highly customized, but i had previously installed kubuntu without any problems on it. does anybody have any tips on getting this working or know any reason it might not be working? Comparitivly to windows, i'm a linux noob.

Once you've got Ubuntu (or Kubuntu/Xubuntu) installed, you can add the ubuntustudio repositories to your /etc/apt/sources.list.

Go to http://www.ubuntustudio.com/downloads and scroll down a bit to 'Ubuntu Studio Repo'. It's explained there. Just copy/paste in a terminal.

After that you can install the ubuntustudio meta packages and a low latency kernel from synaptic.
