IPSec VPN support Ubuntu
Hi,
I've just spent an entire evening attempting to figure out the complexities that is the ipsec VPN world... and failed.
Seeing as VPN is reasonably important in the corporate world, I see it as something that should be improving in the linux world, so I probably just had some old documentation, along with no experience in Linux VPNs from my side.
Can I take a poll and see what VPN software/setups you all use? Protocol, client software, server hardware/software...
I was trying to run Racoon IPSec against a Sonicwall 3060, trying to configure it with the KVPNc program.

The linux platform supports many different types of VPN
implementations, and depending on the platform you're connecting
to, the setup of these networks are pretty straight forward.
IPSec VPN connections using Cisco VPN Concentrators and related
solutions is a breeze with Cisco's own Linux client, or the open
sourced "vpnc" application.
For virtually any other type of IPSec solution, you can also use
StrongSwan (http://www.strongswan.org/), and OpenSwan
(http://http://www.openswan.org).
If you have a look at OpenSwan, you'll find some great
documentation. I found the following interoperability page that
should answer some of your questions.

Racoon apparently is also very popular, and should be a snap to
use with the "kvpnc" client.
