Linux and windows on XPS M1730

I'm running Windows 8 with RAID0. I'd like to put Ubuntu on my system. I'm assuming partitioning the configuration i have now will require me to jump through some hoops.

Could I dual boot with windows on one hard drive and Ubuntu on the other, instead of partitioning one hard drive and putting both operating systems on separate partitions of the one hard drive. I'd like to utilize both bays. Would I be able to put Windows on one of the hard drives and Ubuntu on the other?
