M60 Linux Install glut.h OpenGL

I am having a difficult time getting c++ compilers to work with OpenGL.  I have tried a bunch of different GLUT distributions with the new Fx1000 NVIDIA card and no luck.  I cancompile but I get error message about GLX extension not supported by display.  The XF86Config looks OK.  Any ideas?????

How did you resolve your issue. I can't seem to compile a kernel that will work.

I wish I could explain the exact steps, but it goes something like this.

Install the NVIDIA Drivers.

Then, basically I installed these packages:

glut-3.7-8.i386.rpm

freeglut-devel-2.2.0-1.i386.rpm

Then, I reinstalled the NVIDIA driver.

I am not sure you need both GLUT packages, but I was despirate and did not keep track of it.  Subsequently I have reinstalled on another Linux box and again it worked.

Anyway, it runs and compiles OpenGL.  I think the nonobvious thing is the reinstall of the NVIDIA driver.  BTW, there are still some unresolved OpenGL issues with the Dells and the new NVIDIA drivers and antialiasing, which if I ever resolve I will write a book on.  I tried to post this list of drivers etc. to Linux on Laptops but I do not know if they ever posted the page I wrote up after this odessey.
