No more "edge scrolling" and no "disable trackpad while typing".
Hello,
I use a developer edition sincefew months with great satisfaction. However, with the last Ubuntu 12.04 update ( 3.2.0-38-generic #61+kamal15~DellXPS), I observed that the "edge scrolling" trackpad setting does not work anymore.
Also, one of the very few annoyance a have with this computer is the fact that if my thumbs flirts with the trackpad while I type, the cursor jump to the location where the pointer is. I enabled the "disable touchpad while typing" in the Settings but that does not make any difference. This is quite frustrating when writing documents in Libre-Office and very uncomfortable to maintain "high thumbs" while typing.
Is it possible to adjust some parameters for this function like the delay before re-enabling the touchpad or a hard click for re-enablement. Another possibility would be able to adjust sensitivity while typing.
Thanks,
Jacques

Hi Jacques,
Have you tried to use "syndeamon" command to disable touchpad while typing?
1. Open terminal and type following code.
$gnome-session-properties
2. Set a value form of "command".
syndaemon -i .5 -K -t -R -d

Hello iberianpig,
It seems that the last Ubuntu update fixed the problem but there are still lack of parametrization in the OS settings.
I tried your solution and it works very well. I particularly like the fact that the keyboard re-enabling delay is parametrizable.
Thanks,
Jacques

The syndaemon solution did not work for me on a xps 13 developer edition which shipped from dell with ubuntu 14.04. Any other ideas out there this is extremely difficult to type with the touchpad carrying on.
Thanks!

Hi there, i have the same problem wirh my XPS 13 Ubuntu 14.04 customer version. I am very anoyed about the touchpad. I'm even thinking to send it back! It is almost impossible to work with this mashine. (got it one week ago).
I am not sure if it's only the touchpad. Sometimes the keyboard repeads a key endless, till i hit some other. Any ideas?
