Thanks for the response.... I have the inspiron 910, the error i get is stop: 0x000000FC (0xF7A1C8EC, 0x06BB0963, 0xF7A1C84C, 0x00000001) whew! it is a retail version of xp pro - was removed from another system so that shouldnt be any issue? i dont think....
Look in the bios and see if you have any option to change the SATA mode/operation to ATAyou will need to either have SATA drivers on a floppy or slipstreamed into the install disk.
If you get the SATA driver from the Dell site you will need to run the file to extract it as it is a compressed file.
Thanks for the responses. I dont see any option for changing hard drive in bios - just shows what it is, nothing says sata just ata and a bunch of numbers.
how would i run these files? download off another machine and burn a disc?
i did the same thing...had a friend do it tho and it worked fine but can you tell me how to get software to get my lite on webcam to work... driver downloaded but cannot seem to find software.

markaspalmer,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Which mini do you have? What is the error you get when it blue screens? Are you installing a retail version of WinXP?

Hi,
First post on the forum.
According to MS, this is caused by using a non-retail image to install Windows.
See link below:

Hope this helps!

Not sure what to do - this is clearly a retail version of xp. having the computer boot from cd does nothing now - just hangs on the blue screen.
thanks again folks...
