rethat8 graphics/monitor problems
Hello all
I just tried to install redhat8 on my dimension 2400 which has an integrated intel extreme graphics chip (82845G). When I install the software I get the standard 640X400 installation screens and it recognises my graphics chip and the E151FPb flat panel monitor. However when I reboot the system I can only use a command line interface as the chip or the monitor are not working properly together.
When I look in the log file it says it cannot find a compatible monitor and in XF86FConfig my monitor details are not shown even though the software installation recoginsed it? As I am not an experienced user I am totally lost. Is it a problem with the graphics card or the monitor? and can I use a generic driver to get a semi-usable conifuration?
Does any one know how I should tackle the problem?
Should I consider installing rethat9 if i can get hold of a copy?
Thanks

Hi
I installed the latest version of redhat which did the trick. There are updated drivers on the intel website but I woundnt know how to install them.
