Suse 10 Linux on Dimension 1100

Has anyone had succes installing linux on a Dimension 1100? In particular Suse 10. Is there any reason to suspect there will be problems ?

Could not install Suse10 On Dimension 5100 neighter: I got " could not find kernel linux64", and then impossible to start the installation.
I tried on a VAIO laptop, and the installation did kick off.

I strongly suspect the DELL hidden partition to screw everything up. I don't know what this partition contains, but it also makes partition magic failling when trying to add a new OS with it.

is there anybody who knows how to make it working?

I got Suse 10 installed on my 5100. It failed the 1st attempt (it hung) but then I selected the install options. I found 64 bit was set as the default. Change it to 32bit and all will be fine. A Pentium 4 processor is not 64bit.

- I was using the retail box edition not the free download, but I don't think that matters. It created some space on my Win XP partition easily and the Dell recovery partitions remain unaffected. When you switch on LILO gives you a choice of which OS to boot. You can change the default (set to Suse obviously) very easily using YAST

Le me know if there are any advances on the

mariage between Mr Dimension & Ms Suse.

It seems that I am failing with SuSE 9.1 personal

and Dim.1100. Actually I am looking desperately

for a compatible LINUX OS.

Best wishes
