TB18 dock: how to configure the ethernet port?
I have a Dell Precision 7530 (ubuntu) and a Dell TB 18 dock.
The dock works fine w/ my external monitors except that the ethernet port doesn't work.
`ifconfig -a` shows:
vboxnet0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 0a:00:27:00:00:00
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
eno1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 10:65:30:47:a0:88
inet addr:137.79.22.208 Bcast:137.79.22.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::8b:239a:9e1:b5db/64 Scope:Link

RX packets:780538 errors:2424 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:1212

collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:929025492 (929.0 MB) TX bytes:57619983 (57.6 MB)
Interrupt:16 Memory:b5500000-b5520000
eno1 is the ethernet port on the laptop.
vboxnet0 is the ethernet port on the TB18.
I read on the TB16 manual that there is support for "mac forwarding":
It is unclear how to enable this under ubuntu.
Any suggestions?
- Nicolas.

This looks like it is working. It got an IP address from somewhere. Can you be more specific about "not working?"
If you execute:
That is typically your router (I think.) What do you see?
Taking a step back, how have you configured Ethernet? Default is to obtain an IP address using DHCP and that should also get a DNS server.
