U2515H Monitor "The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display"
Hi,
I just bought a U2515H.
I am running ubuntu 14.04, and since I changed the monitor, I have a black screen after boot saying ""The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display" and asking to use 2560x1440 at 60Hz.
I don't want to have the full 2560x1440 resolution on this computer, just a regular display would be good.
I want to use this monitor to plug also a laptop which works fine with the monitor.
I tried to plug the previous monitor, switch to the dell after logged in, but as soon as I "detect displays", the monitor will go off.

The U2515H can do the following lower resolutions, page 12 of the User's Guide =
But, those only represent the operating systems tested by Dell. The U2515H was never tested in Ubuntu =
The Ubuntu users out here will need to provide the advanced usage way to use a different monitor and edit the Ubuntu operating system configuration files to allow the lower resolutions on the U2515H.

Thanks Chris, tried with a nvidia quadro k600 and works out of the box with the display port output
Tried to plug a dvi (computer) to hdmi (monitor) and have no display.
Will assume I need a display port graphical card as you described in en.community.dell.com/.../19629106
Would you have any recommendation of a cheap card, I might not keep this one in this pc ?

Any entry level PCIe x16 video card with DP out port should work. Check a local store. Be sure to check the power supply requirements of the chosen video card.
