ubuntu
i am trying to load linux ubuntu on my new dell inspiron 14 and it will not load. do i have to do something to the BIOS in order for it to load or what could be the problem

Hey Valedz, do you mean you can't boot Ubuntu from the USB pen drive ?
If that is the case yes, you have to configure the BIOS (I don't have a inspiron 14 here, but I believe pressing F2 during the boot screen will give you access to it) and select the USB as the primary boot device -- you can change it back later.
Do you intent just to run Ubuntu from the pen drive, or do you want to install it ?

I can boot and install ubuntu, but when start (whitout usb memory) this stay in purple screen :(...
why ????

Because you didn't install it you are running it live from the usb drive with a casper persistence file and or Ubuntu does not see your hard drive.
You have to use 12.04.4 or later to see secure boot UEFI partitions.
14.04 is the new lts version but its not as compatible as 12.04.5 LTS.
