Update manager failure messages

I keep getting the following error messages when the Mini-9 update manager runs.  The update manager also does not recognize that it has been run at all.  How can I fix this.  By the way I am a complete newbie and will need step-by step help if possible.

Thanks!

eyring2210,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Is your system connected to the internet?

Yes my system is connected to the internet.

I used to get those messages when I was running off of the server for Canada - which is so painfully slow I assumed the request simply timed out and gave a 404 error.

try changing your Synaptic . server > settings > download from =  "Main Server".

yes I'm connected to the net.  It seems like the repo does not have the right software for the atom processor.  I have tried the us server and the main server with the same results.

It is looking for the LPIA architecture but so far none is present.  My guess is you have

  • Canonical-supported Open Source software (main)
  • Community-maintained Open Source software (universe)
  • Proprietary drivers for devices (restricted)
  • Software restricted by copyright or legal issues (multiverse)

Or any variation of those, checked under your Ubuntu Software tab.  Uncheck them.

I had similar error messages over the past 2 weeks.  I tried running the Update Manager today and now it works.  Give it another shot.  I think it will work this time.
