Hi,
See the earlier thread on this topic,

Title: "Dell’s commitment to deliver select desktops and notebooks with Linux".

They haven't announced a date yet, but I hope it's soon.

Linux is like a toy operating system when compared to Windows Vista Home Premium.

It's obvious some are mis-informed. Dell has announced their move to include Linux as an option. Linux is becoming more popular and Dell is wisely offering it to the many that have requested it. Nick: what's the purpose of your post, it has nothing to do with the topic and isn't based on fact? Linux fans can really careless what you think. We're not here to compare OS's...

There is no comparison between Windows and Linux. Thats why 97% use Windows.

I am looking forward to Dell offering Linux as an option for laptops, and until then -- I am not making any plans to buy another laptop (currently Dell Inspiron 8500).

I will seriously consider buying a new one when they have a 17 inch 1920x1200 laptop available with Linux as an option (or a clean one i.e. no Windows; no Works -- with devices that are Linux friendly).

I'll second that. I've been looking for a laptop with a good, linux-supported WLAN (not intel, not broadcom) for a while now. I was going to get a Lenovo Thinkpad, but I think I'm going to wait and see what Dell can come up with before I buy.
