Which Linux to install on a PE6350?

Hi all,

I have a PE6350 (4 CPS, 2Gb Ram, megaRAID controler, 3 disks) and I want to put Linux on it. I already did some experimenting, but maybe one of you can advise me which linux (type and version) is the best to install, without having to worry too much about recompiling libraries and stuff.

Thanx a lot for your help!!

Try Centos. It's a RedHat Enterprise clone.

What does PE stand for? PowerEdge? What do you use it for? At home? At work?

PE is indeed PowerEdge. And I want to use it as a Firebird (database) server for a small group of people.

In my opinion the best for this work, is Debian. Debian (is installed with net-install) is very lite and (if is a version in the stable section) is very stable - in my opinion - is stabler than RedHat and CentOS

Hi all, I mannaged to install Debian 3, but only after performing a firmware update of the RAID controller to version 3.14. After that Debian installed perfectly. Thanx for all your comments!! Case closed
