I have the same problem and it is tedious.

I can get the display back (after it goes black) by switching to a different tty (for example that on F6) and then back to the usual GUI tty on F7 again.

On Ubuntu on the xps 2015 you switch to tty on F6 with Ctrl+Alt+Fn+F6. Then back to tty on F7 with Ctrl+Alt+Fn+F7.

For me, this always brings the display back.

cheers

I have the same problem too.

Sigh. Very frustrating.

It seems that my Dell XPS 13 is a lemon.

Thanks for the advice, anyway.

My backlight turned out to be broken and the screen was replaced by Dell.
