XPS 13 refreshed - now with 16GB RAM

Just saw that the XPS 13 and XPS 15 got a refresh. Especially, the XPS 13 is now available with 16Gb Ram!

It's not yet available as a Developer Edition, though.

Bummer, as I just got a new XPS 13 and my return period is over....

Too bad. In some countries DE is not sold, so we're left with windows edition and instaling linux.

Meaning we got<ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU> up card and no DE iso to use. Disappointing...

It's a known bug, see for example: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1356076

A workaround is to stop and restart btusb:

sudo modprobe -r btusb
sudo modprobe btusb

When it comes to choosing developer edition configurations can we please have a 16Gb RAM version that comes without the touchscreen?

I love my XPS13 and my wife has been eyeing it.. but the premium price for the 16Gb version has held her back from just buying it.

If we could offer that, I would try to push for it. We're still pretty dependent on what fixed hardware configurations are made available to us, though. This would be a harder push for us to make than, say, choosing a different wireless card.

I feel the same way, I've been waiting for a 16GB version, but now it's priced out of my budget due to the high res display and touchscreen.

Is there an ETA on the dev edition for the Skylake models? I would want to know: This year or next year?

Hi Barton,

I am a proud owner of an XPS13 DE bought in 2013. I am thinking to replace it with a new model, perhaps bigger. I am wondering if there is any plan to provide a DE for a 15'' laptop with Skylake hardware (say the XPS15 or a model from the new Precision 15 series).

Hi @Alesfo,

We will have a big brother to accompany the XPS13 but it will be based on the Precision 5510.

thanks for the support!!

Count me in for this...

The only thing that's keeping me from getting the XPS 13 is being forced to get a touch screen if you want 16GB

+1 for 16GB, non-touch, DE (with optional 500GB or 1TB SSD)
