I had the 9550 in my cart, ready to buy, then realized that nobody has tested it with Linux. I'll +1 this. Would love to see this amazing machine with Linux on it.
Does the m3800 differ so wildly from the standard xps 15 that I should wait for a Developer Edition on the 9550 ? Or, should I just buy and [try] installing linux?
I would add : is there an XPS 15 with a 15' screen in a 13' frame with Linux coming?
The XPS 15 9550 is a 15" screen in a 14" body, and I think that is going to be the limit. It's not the same size as the XPS 13, but it has an infinity display. Hence the 14" body. And this thread is a request for a developer edition for this model :-)
I have one 9550, which I have just installed ubuntu two days ago with the help of this thread ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2301071
It was not simple, and could not get 14.04 to even install in it so ended up using 15.10. I would LOVE to see ubuntu support for this laptop, like with the XPS 13

I think they will have Intel Wireless in the Developer Edition. The current models have Broadcom.

Am I the first to voice this idea? Haven't seen any question about it.
I'm dreaming about this XPS 15 developer Edition - GNU/Linux with a 15' screen in a 13' frame (is it even possible?)

+1 to this. Good thing I checked the intergoogles before ordering mine, for some reason I assumed the 15 would be supported just as well as the 13 is.

I currently own a XPS 13 Developer Edition (with Ubuntu).
I love the machine, but would like to buy a faster and bigger version of it.
Please Dell, add a XPS 15 9550 Developer Edition (with Ubuntu) to your product line!

Interesting that the 9550 "Quick Start" guide has a bit in there about Ubuntu:
http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_xps_laptop/xps-15-9550-laptop_Setup%20Guide4_en-us.pdf
No mentions anywhere else though...

Myself and a colleague are both interested in the XPS 15 9550. I would really like to see a Developer version, so here is another vote for it.

The reason behind that Ubuntu mention is that sometimes Dell manages to keep things simple and be practical. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_xps_laptop/xps-13-9350-laptop_Setup%20Guide4_en-us.pdfI actually didn't even have to do anything but think logically and change the 5's to 3's in your link, which is a good thing.
Sorry mate... maybe next year?
