XPS-15 9550, TB16, Ubuntu 18.04, dark screen, #2
I have similar problems as here =
https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-General/XPS-15-9550-TB16-Ubuntu-18-04-dark-screen-1/td-p/7223791 Second screen (Samsung) with XPS-15 9550 Laptop connected to the TB16. I'm using Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 on the Laptop. With Ubuntu, screen goes black about 3 times after boot. Under Windows no problems (only currently no network ;-(, but that's another issue). Mostly both screens come back, but sometimes only the laptop screen which forces me to reboot. Running the Nvidia driver 390, distro non-free recommended driver. And also tried upgrading the kernel, currently running 5.1.16. Also did all BIOS updates etc. as far I can see.

Unfortunately, this is out of scope. The XPS-15 9550 driver page only shows Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 8.1 64-bit as supported operating systems by Dell.
All assistance for this Ubuntu issue will need to be from other Ubuntu users.

The problem went away after i installed the firmware update of the TB16 from jan 2019.
Before that I installed a bios update for the xps 15 dont know if that is necessary?!
