They are 2 unrelated issues, one of the LEDs should be changed if the don't pass the AlienFXTester.exe test. Just navigate to the Alienware Command Center installation folder and look for that exe and follow the instructions. If it fails, the light needs to be changed.

The 90c issue is really concerning, send us an e-mail to AWSocialMedia@dell.com, we may need to send a technician to re-apply thermal paste to the CPU.

hi luis, it didn't pass the tester because one led on the back lid is a different color than the rest of the machine's lights.  only pink, red and orange colors match really.  laptop is never knocked around or even tapped on.  rarely ever touched except to dust it off with a microfiber cloth or cleaned with compressed air.  I'll e-mail AWSocialMedia@dell.com and see what they have to say about the heat.  thanks for any more advice!

i've sent a message to AWSocialMedia@dell.com, still havent heard a response in a long while.  Sent another e-mail just in case they missed it.  With the heat issue, i really hope its just my laptop experiencing a problem.  i dont want it to be a problem with the model itself because then i'd have to upgrade to a real gaming laptop that can handle games at reasonable temps.  but i doubt thats the case

Well found an interesting problem when the technician checked the thermal pad or actually lack of thermal pads.  Not all the thermal pads were on the heat sink.  The heat sink was replaced with all the pads installed correctly.  Now should i be concerned with any heat damage to the motherboard because of the missing paste?  Kinda crazy that whoever built this laptop missed possibly the most important steps.

The Motherboard should be fine, but I recommend you continue to monitor the temperatures regularly and run a system checkup every now and then.

Was the problem with the green light fixed with the replacement?
