Alienware 15 R2 delayed power on

Hi all,

I have a problem with my brand new Alienware R2, when I first got it, it ran ok for the first day and then just stopped turning on the next day.. so they gave me a replacement :) and told me i had a fried motherboard..  the problem is- I think the replacement is going down the same path, it turns on just fine on repeated use but when i turn it on after like 4 hours of not using it there's a significant delay between me hitting the power on and any sign of life from the laptop .. after like 5 seconds I start hearing the fans turning/ or is it HDD? .. anyhow .. I'm afraid one of those days I'm gonna turn it on and it just won't ... what could be causing this? should I send the unit back?

I've read somewhere that BIOS might be the cause, but mine is on the latest driver, never the less I reinstalled the driver to no avail .. the other two possibilities I've read is a faulty PSU or motherboard ..

Can you please advice?

Hi,

Due to some Bios updates, this is an expected normal behavior during post for Alienware 15 R2 and 17 R3.

You can also run an ePSA/Diagnostic test on the system, if you want to be sure everything is working fine. Click here to view a Dell article that explains how to run this test. Let me know if you receive any errors.
