Alienware 15R2 Charging issues

My 15R2 laptop has developed a charging issue over the last 2-3 weeks. While plugged into the mains the laptop only charges for about 6 seconds out of every 10. It is constantly alternating between charging and not charging. While using the CPU graphics this is not too much of an issue but when using the dedicated graphics while plugged into the mains the battery will run down to 10% in about 3 hours.

I have checked and all drivers and BIOS are up to date.

The power light on the power supply is not fluctuating with the charging so I do not think that is the issue.

Hi,

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version here, this version.

Also check power options and make sure the system is on High performance.

Let me know!

The power options are set to high performance.

I cannot update the BIOS because I am getting an error stating that the battery and AC must be connected to flash the BIOS. This is while the AC is connected but it is not in a constant state which is the problem that I have.

Do you have any other AC adapter to try?

Managed to update the BIOS by charging the battery to 100% and updating as soon as the laptop was on, Still got charging issues.

I'm getting a new power supply to see if that is what is faulty as the computer seems to charge of for the first 30 mins or so until the power supply warms up then its capacity diminishes.

Still suffering the same issue with the new power supply. Starting to think the issue is with the laptop its self.

If you already tried the AC, then the issue should be the DC JACK IN.
