alienware 17 GPU fan not working?

Whenever i play a game on my new AW17, the CPU fan on the left is often working full speed but i have never seen the GPU fan on the right working.   Is this normal?

Hi JohnRambo007,

The GPU fans will spin at a high speed only when high intensity graphic applications are used. However, request you to use the below link and run a hardware diagnostics:

You may also try running a few games and check if it plays fine.

Make a note of the error messages that appear (if any). Do reply with your answers.

did the test everything is fine.   The CPU fan speed is tested, but not the GPU fan.

Hello JohnRambo007!

You can try downloading this program which helps you to control the GPU temperature and the fan speed, but if the system is working fine and if it’s not overheating that means that all the fans are spinning properly.

I got GPU-Z working and it also shows fan speed @ 100%

this particular program kept crashing.   I used OpenHardwareMonitor instead.   While gaming It showed top rising to 60 and fan speed was 100% but there was no air coming out of the laptop.  I tried to manually override the fan going between 0 and 100% and nothing happened,

I'm experiencing the same thing. I've just received this brand new Alienware 17 yesterday (4th of September 2014).

I can confirm that the fan on the right hand side (the side of the optical drive) is not working.

During idle it's hard to gauge because there is no sound. Supposedly, under high load the fan will work harder and you could hear it working. But this is only true for the fan on the left side.

The fan on the right side remain silent. Only one possibility, IT'S NOT WORKING.

Is the fan on the right side for the GPU? If so, it might be the reason my GPU temperature reach 93 degree celcius.

Is there any solution for this problem? How to ensure the fan on the right side is working?
