Acie,

FYI, there is not an R5 version.

* Be sure the laptop is off
* Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop and the wall socket
* Remove the battery from the laptop
* Press and hold in the laptop power button for 15 seconds
* Reinstall the battery
* Reconnect the AC adapter to the wall socket
* If applicable, wait for the blue LED to light up on the cord
* Reconnect the AC adapter to the laptop
* Attempt to power the laptop on

Hi,

I was not aware of that, it was listed as a R5 (new 2013 model) when I purchased it from a seller. But thanks for the info. There a lot of results for R5 in google, im guessing from what I have read its not a official name and its not known as a R5 in the US.

I will have a look on Google for some instructions on taking it apart. hopefully this wont void any warranty I have.

Many thanks

Hi Acie - The older Alienware laptops used to play up if Alienware OSD software was not installed correctly, you could always give that a try!!!

Here's a link to the win 8 version, if you have a different OS then make sure you select the right one in the drop down menu.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the link, I have removed the battery now 3 times on 3 separate days and the issue remains the same, its not allowing the charger to charge the laptop. I am very disheartened spending this amount of money and I have a laptop that I cant use.

Hello Acie!

There might be something wrong with the battery or the ac adapter, send me your service tag on a PM to check if I can help you with that.
